For the first time in its 50-plus-year history, Colorado's 5th Congressional District is in the crosshairs of national Democrats. The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee announced that the historically Republican seat, centered in El Paso County, has been added to the list of 44 "districts in play" for the 2026 midterm elections. The 5th District has never elected a Democrat.
